I have always wanted to go to Sweden in Scandinavia. Sweden is located in northern Europe, about 15% of the country is above the Arctic Circle. Its principal cities, eastern capital Stockholm and southwestern Gothenburg and Malmö, are all coastal. Stockholm is built on 14 islands, which i never knew. It has more than 50 bridges!! Must be crazy to drive around there. It is the largest Nordic country and the 5th largest in Europe. 88% of Swedes reside in urban areas, mostly in the southern part of the country. Sweden is a monarchy & formally known as the Kingdom of Sweden. It would take me 10 hours to fly there from DC.
The population is around 10.5 million people. Sweden maintains a Nordic social welfare system that provides universal health care and tertiary education for its citizens.
The weather in Sweden is similar to the US despite being far north. The south barely has winter, while the north has very cold winters. It can get up to 75° in Stockholm in the summer. The highest temperature ever recorded in Sweden was 38 °C (100 °F) in Målilla in 1947, while the coldest temperature ever recorded was −52.6 °C (−62.7 °F) in Vuoggatjålme on 2 February 1966. It is also drier than many other countries.
The supergroup, ABBA, is from Sweden. They won the Eurovision contest. Sweden also has a prominent choral music tradition. Out of a population of 9.5 million, it is estimated that five to six hundred thousand people sing in choirs.
beautiful pic of the city in your other post.
